(Do we have ideas, entering the Sherlyn pad? Not quite – bur cannot say the same about edginess. Not sure of what to actually expect or what is waiting for us in there, we cannot deny anxiety…
But it is unnecessary, really… the Sherlyn Chopra that has just seated herself opposite us is a far cry from the Sherlyn of the perceptions… the first thing to bring the point home is that soft, silken smile of hers that oozes a pure innocence, just like a child’s…
We feel we are bang on track… today, what we’ll see would indeed be the other side of a seductress, the term everybody knows Sherlyn with… and thereby starts our close encounter of the chatty kind with Sherlyn as Sherlyn is…)
Sherlyn, you are often given the crown of ‘Controversy Queen’! How do you react to it? Does it sit pat on your head?
Sherlyn Chopra: I don’t enjoy it!
Oh, but that’s a strange thing to hear from one who has had the guts to swim against the tide, which, in turn, gives way to controversies!
Sherlyn: But it becomes too much when they cage me in the image of a shallow woman who is all curves and no substance!
But that loaded statement is generally the bi-product of our being a hypocritical society. That’s how it comes to be that way – Enjoy Sherlyn for what she does and then abuse Sherlyn for what she does!
Sherlyn C: Yeah! But on hindsight, I would say that there have been times in the past when I put my integrity at stake and did certain things out of obligation!
Could you share some of that with us?
Sherlyn: That is personal!
Are you fighting shy of speaking the truth? Are you also falling a prey to the ‘Dual face syndrome’ like everybody else?
Sherlyn: Not really! I am always happy that I think the way I think and I don’t do a thing because everyone else is doing it. But now I want the industry to know the real me!
Then it is all the more reason for you to come clean on things, once and for all. Trust us, we do not want to sensationalise anything, but we do want to go through the ‘Story of Sherlyn’ in all its brutal details!
Sherlyn: I did share with Amitji some of that on Television… about my family, my childhood!
You mentioned childhood. We understand that thereby hangs a painful tale?
Sherlyn: Well, I was born in Hyderabad to an Indian father and a Persian Mother. It was an ok childhood. I went to school and indulged in lots of Extra-curricular there!
