The quiet and shy Karan Mehra aka Naitik of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai surprised everyone on his Birthday by proposing his good friend Nisha Rawal in a total Filmi Style. This act of his stunned one and all present there especially Nisha who said that she herself came to Sheesha for finalizing food and other arrangements thinking it would be his Birthday bash. A carpet of rose petals welcomed Nisha towards the screen projecting the slide show of photos capturing their favorite memories. Finally, Karan went down on his knees, proposed his love on the bed of roses laid in heart shape and gave her the ring in the presence of his parents, brother and Nisha’s mom. Nisha was speechless and broke down. Karan quickly chirped it was his ‘token of love’ and not an engagement ring bringing a smile on her face. They danced to their favorite romantic song ‘Pehla Nasha’ before cutting the cake. Nisha presented him a watch and Karan dotingly said, ‘Nisha is the perfect partner who understands me and I am lucky to have her in my life.’ Nisha who was bowled over by Karan’s Romantic surprise said, ‘Karan is very disciplined and caring by nature and has all the qualities of my Dream man.’

A splendid visit to Karol Bagh...
A splendid visit to Karol Bagh...

With the onset of various shows trying to do different things and things differently, the latest one on the telly tube is Zee TV’s 12/24 Karol Bagh. The show, which, before its launch had a splendid set visit exclusively in Delhi saw all the actors, Producer and husband-wife duo Sudhir and Seema Sharma, Mr. Akash Chawla, the Marketing head of Zee along with Sukesh Motwani, the Creative head of Zee show up for the same.
T
alking of his decision to shift base in Delhi, Sudhir said, “It takes longer to travel within Mumbai but it hardly takes some three hours to reach Delhi. We were skeptical to shoot the entire show in Delhi first but finally went in for it. The profit here is that we’ll get brand equity, respectability but on the other hand it takes a lot of guts. But we shot here because apart from the actors, even the rickshawallah will have the same accent. Just like the Sagars shoot in Vadodara, we plan to do it here and I’m sure there will be many people following suit after this. On the real sets we can maneuver it well. Real dikhaana is a tough task….you are not making a Shyam Benegal movie. To create a psyche was a task.” And just as we ask as to what’s new in the show bang comes the reply from Akash, “We try portraying the changing trends in the country through our shows and characters. The show is relatable to all the Indian families. We shot in Karol Bagh to give it an authentic look; if there’s no pulse of Karol Bagh in the show, we’ll feel that we’ve failed. The cast which comprised senior actors like Banwari Taneja (Rajendra Sethi), Alka Amin (Manju Sethi) made for an amazing concoction with the young and fresh lot of Smriti Kalra who plays the role of Simi and was an RJ before stepping her toes into acting, Waseem Mushtaq (Anuj), Sargun Mehta (Neetu), Humar Halli (Mili)
amongst others.
